Goose Fire

Studio notes

What is happening

A few entries from the studio. Short ones, added when there is something worth saying.

Ornaments in the kiln

A load of ornaments has gone into the kiln, unfired, packed on shelves with posts between them so nothing touches. Alesha's palette of forms has been growing: ridged, faceted, and pinecone-textured pieces alongside the simpler spheres.

Mould casting

The bench has been covered in plaster. Broken mould halves, offcuts, and a good deal of spilled plaster. Some of the cast bird forms are still attached to their sprues, waiting to be cleaned up.

A new goose

A goose with a long neck that loops back to make a handle, and a body covered in incised leaf and scale texture. Sitting alongside a jack-o'-lantern with a carved face. Both unfired, both waiting on a glaze.
